Minnesota CE Requirements
Dental Assistant
Dental Assistants must maintain continuous CPR certification in the American Heart Association’s healthcare provider Basic Life Support (BLS) or the American Red Cross’s professional rescuer (BLS) course.
Limited-Radiology Registrant
# CDE Required: 2 credit hours every 2 years
Required Topics: Infection Control
Licensed Dental Assistant (LDA)
# CE Required: 25 credit hours every 2 years
Required Topics:
- Minimum of 15 credit hours of fundamental*
- Maximum of 10 credit hours of elective*
- Minimum of 2 courses must be completed in two different core subject areas
- A CPR certification course is mandatory to maintain licensure
Note: Effective August 2017, an infection control course is mandatory for LDAs to maintain licensure.

Licensed Dental Assistant (LDA) with Collaborative Practice Authorization
An LDA with Collaborative Practice Authorization who performs duties without the dentist being present at the location where the services are being performed as authorized under a collaborative practice agreement must document completion of a course on medical emergencies during each continuing education cycle.
