Dental Assistant qualified in radiography
# CE Required: 2 hours every two years

Note: In order to renew a radiography qualification, the applicant must submit a statement confirming that the applicant is currently certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) that includes a hands-on component, including the certificate’s expiration date. This certificate must be made available to the Iowa Board upon request.
Registered Dental Assistant
# CE Required: 20 hours every two years
Required Topics:
- Iowa Jurisprudence—at least one hour every two years
- CPR—maximum of three hours; must be taken through a nationally recognized provider and include a hands-on, clinical component. A CPR course may include an online component provided there is an in-person portion prior to the certification being issued.
- Infection Control—at least one hour every two years
- Mandatory Reporter Training for Child Abuse and Dependent Adult Abuse—a licensee who regularly examines, attends, counsels or treats adults or children in Iowa shall complete an initial two-hour child abuse mandatory reporter training course offered by the department of human services within six months of employment, or prior to the expiration of a current certificate. Completion of the initial training course results in two hours of continuing education credit. Thereafter, all mandatory reporters shall take a one-hour recertification training every three years, prior to the expiration of a current certificate. Completion of the recertification training results in one hour of continuing education credit
A maximum of 12 hours of continuing education may be earned in self-study or home study
