This series of articles published by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) features information on clinical recommendations for the use of pit-and-fissure sealants; guidelines on when restorative procedures are necessary; recommendations concerning the use of interim therapeutic restorations (ITRs); and a policy on the use of medically-necessary care.
You will earn 12 CDE credits when you achieve a passing score of 75% on the assessment. You will receive your pass or fail result immediately after completing the assessment, and you can take the assessment more than once if needed.

- Cite evidence-based clinical recommendations for the use of pit-and-fissure sealants on the occlusal surfaces of primary and permanent molars in children and adolescents.
- Refer to available clinical evidence regarding the effect of dental sealants for the prevention and management of pit-and-fissure occlusal carious lesions in primary and permanent molars, compared with a control without sealants, with fluoride varnishes, or with comparisons of other methods.
